How the Pomeranian International Registry works

You can search without an account. Look up a Pomeranian by dog name, microchip number, pedigree or registration number, or by its PIR Dog ID. Older Dog IDs remain searchable, so a number written on an old document still finds the right dog.

Every registered Pomeranian has a single profile. The header shows the PIR Dog ID, pedigree number, microchip number, age, date of birth and colour. If no photo has been uploaded, an illustration in the dog's own coat colour is shown and clearly marked as an illustration.

The tabs hold health records, DNA and genetics, breeding information, documents and ownership history. Private details such as the owner's address and telephone number are never public.

The pedigree is built from the register itself. When a parent is registered later, the family tree updates automatically — in both directions and through every generation. Parents can be added even before they exist in the register, using their microchip or pedigree number.

Colour coding shows inbreeding at two levels: the current pedigree COI as a soft background, and the dog's own inherited COI as a separate marking.

Each dog with a recorded pedigree gets a certificate of origin showing name, breed, date of birth, colour, PIR Dog ID, microchip number, pedigree number, breeder and four generations of ancestry.

Enter two dogs by microchip, pedigree number or Dog ID. BreedSafe reads the full pedigree held in the register and calculates the expected offspring COI using Wright's method, names the relationship between the two dogs and lists the common ancestors that cause it.

Registration is free and takes a few minutes. Enter the microchip number, the dog's name, sex and date of birth, and add the parents by their microchip or pedigree number. Breeders can register a whole litter at once — puppies that are not chipped yet can be registered without a microchip number and updated later.

Ownership can be transferred at any time: enter the new owner's name and email, and they confirm the dog on their own account.
